Topic: Everything You Wanted to Know about Files (And You Don't Even Need to Ask!)
and The New E-Banking and Trust Account Rule
Speaker: Aviva Kaiser, State Bar of Wisconsin
Leader: Patricia Ruppert
The State Bar's Standing Committee on Professional Ethics recently issued two Wisconsin Formal Ethics Opinions: EF-16-03 "The Ethical Obligation of the Lawyer to Surrender the File upon Termination of the Representation" and EF-17-01 "Retention and Destruction of Closed Client Files". These opinions were issued to clarify the lawyer's ethical obligation and to withdraw some older opinions which were confusing or were no longer consistent with the way SCR 20:1.16(d) is currently enforced and interpreted. Also, as a bonus topic Aviva will discuss the new E-Banking and Trust Account rule.
Lunch, graciously sponsored by Creative Business Interiors, will be at no cost for members and $30.00 for guests. We will be ordering from Panera.
